Holding his tiny, storefront church together with infectious goodwill and electrical tape, Pastor Bobby Perkins tries to help others in need by drawing on his own struggles with drug addiction and poverty. While the facilities are nothing to brag about, Washington DC's Missions for Christ Church prides itself on being full of spirit. Academy Award nominated filmmaker David Petersen captures this spirit in his documentary, LET THE CHURCH SAY AMEN, which made its US debut at the acclaimed Sundance Film Festival. With the problems of street violence, poverty, drug addiction, and homelessness right outside their doorway, the churchgoers at the heart of Petersen's film have their work cut out for them. LET THE CHURCH SAY AMEN documents these efforts with impressive intimacy over a year's time.
