I Want to Live! back to product details

Maybe it was a slow Oscar year
written by aecheverri July 18, 2006 - 3:25 PM PDT
Despite being over the top and as melodramatic as its title, this movie was incredibly dull and tedious. The first part was simply silly and reminiscent of Reefer Madness, but as it went on and on ... and on and on, it was just dull. It's definitely an actor's movie -- Hayward got to emote and she was very good -- but it's no movie for actually watching.

I couldn't disagree more

This is an amazing film that has a courage that I sincerely doubt could be done in American film today.

Also a fun bit of trivia, this is the moving Sergio Leone was watching when he died.

let's face it
she got an oscar because she played a hooker who gets punched around
don't you always get an oscar for playing a hooker?
that, and deathrow seems to always get votes, too

but this movie seriously bored me beyond belief
it took me 3 sittings just to get through it
i did like the soundtrack
but the movie never got me to feel any kind of empathy or sympathy for the character
never gave me a reason to care whether or not she gets the death penalty or gets pardoned

i just wanted the film in all its tedium to end
