Alright, the series is over (or is it?). I know, a lot of people/fans were disappointed at how the final few episodes ended, however, if you look at it from a writer's perspective, the series pretty much stayed true to the theme and to the very core of its popularity, the story. Yes, the cool gunplay coupled with excellent animation is a combination that can't be beat. But if you think about it, the story is the gel that kept this anime from becoming a cliche in its genre. Even I was expecting an all out "kingdom come", "no holds barred", "to end all wars" last battle finale. And it didn't happen. I was shocked, but moreover, I was impressed at how the writer took a left turn and decided to show the lives of two best friends come full circle. That in the end, loyalty, and the pains to which people will hold on to it, is above all.
