| Not any older than the protagonist when I plunked down my 14 cents to first see this movie, I emerged from the Rialto Theater that day pretty shaken. Those (atonal thereminesque choir) sounds! Those catatonic (Dad! Mom! the police chief! even the girl next door!) authority figures! Quicksand-like people-engulfing beach sand--right up on the hill! The chicken-leg-antennaed brain-entity! Too young to grok the "communist menace" subtext back then, I found myself thinking about our present Administration's strange behavior of late. Question: Has anyone ever seen a photo of any Administration-person's neck?? I thought not! |
