San Francisco dotcommers hatch a plan to cash in on their company and their employees lives in this evocative tragicomedy about life at a startup during the technology industrys boom and bust. With Susan at the helm, and Kip and Jeff as its backers, Hot Tot blossoms as a company and lures employees by offering them a chance to become San Franciscos newest group of high-tech millionaires. Maria joins Hot Tot with the hopes of starting a family and freeing her husband Tony from his high-risk job as a police officer. Charlene, Hot Tot's Director of Marketing, thrives on the long hours of high-tech culture, relying on it to balance out her lonely nights as a single woman. Employment with Hot Tot offers Kachina much-needed direction and a way out of her destructive relationship with her manipulative boyfriend, Joe. Desperate to maintain his relationship with Kachina, Joe creates his new personae and lies his way into a position with Hot Tot. By the New Year, Hot Tot's future begins to look uncertain. The company's financial reports have not met initial expectations, and management faces major decisions that will determine the livelihoods of the employees and Hot Tot's place in e-business history.
