This disk contains episodes 53 - 58, which is the beginning of the third TV season. Due to Lina's actions at the end of the last season, the magical barrier that had encased their section of the world disappeared. Suddenly, Lina, Gourry, Amelia and Zelgadis have a whole new outer world to explore, and explore they do under the prodding of Filia, priestess of the Fire Dragon King, who wants Lina to save the world, and the machinations of Xellos the Mysterious Priest, who wants Lina to... well... you have to watch to find out! The quality of pacing, humor and action continues to be consistently excellent in this series. It's pure light-hearted entertainment.

Also included in this disk is a "Behind the Scenes" short where several English-language voice actors (for Lina, Gourry, Amelia, Zelgadis, Xellos) and the English dubbing director are interviewed about their experiences during the dubbing. There is more info here than in the other interviews on Disk 1 of the first season. However, I still think that it's best to watch the anime in Japanese with English subtitles. Personally, I like the Japanese voices in Slayers better than the English ones, and did you know that the Japanese voice actor for Lina is the famous Megumi Hayashibara? Among her many other roles, she played the female Ranma in Ranma 1/2, Faye Valentine in Cowboy Bebop, Rei Ayanami in Evangelion, and Pai in 3x3 Eyes. She is probably the top female seiyuu (voice actor) in Japan right now.
