Assault on Precinct 13 back to product details

"Assault on Precinct 13" is clearly made on a very low budget

Carpenter took a drive-in movie on a shoestring budget and carved out a masterpiece. If you view this film with a jaded eye comparing it to action films of today, you will see blemishes. However, if you take into consideration that this movie was made in the mid-1970's on a small budget, you will see that Carpenter exceeded his mandate and created a tight action-suspense thriller that foreshadowed his future triumphs. Like the Romero zombie movies, this is a siege film, but in this case, the attackers are cognizant of what they are doing and willfully participating in destruction, murder, and mayhem, which is even more frightening in some ways than an attack of drones motivated by primal instincts. I would recommend this movie to anyone who appreciates well-crafted suspense or anyone interested in seeing the genesis of John Carpenter's style.

So much better than the remake
