| Ugh. Don't watch this DVD unless you're doing a study of how to make an English-only mockery of an anime original. This version, often called the "Toonami Movie" version, collects the four Blue Submarine OVA episodes into one disk, removes the Japanese language track so you only have the ridiculous English dub, reduces video quality so everything looks fuzzy, and edits certain scenes. It's a shame because the Japanese version is one of first anime using CGI technology and the first release by Studio Gonzo (Hellsing, Vandread, Yukikaze, Last Exile). If you must see this anime, instead of renting this disk, rent the individual episodes -- even though they are one episode per disk, the quality is worth it. |
