Warner Bros' earlier version of HOUSE OF WAX scared the daylights out of me, but I was twelve years old at the time. In fabulous 3-D, it featured Vincent Price, the pert and pretty Phyllis Kirk, and my favorite Carolyn, waxing wonderfully as "Jones of Arc." Times--and films--change, and this remake/update admittedly has some creepy moments, as well as some nastily violent ones (prime among these, the finger through the grill).

Boasting the usual young and sexy cast (Paris Hilton proves again that she's imminently so-so), the movie offers some striking special effects. It runs maybe 15 minutes over its time limit, however, because it takes WAY too long to get rolling. No hit theatrically, this "House" may find its larger, less discriminating audience on DVD. You could do worse for Halloween.
