Punk has become as American as Joe DiMaggio and Marilyn Monroe, but at its onset in American pop-culture, there was an intense resistance from the mainstream. This polar push and pull is what defined the early punk attitude, and there were none more willing to display the angst and displeasure with the American ideal then the Dead Kennedys. Many of the modern consumers of punk music were too young to have ever seen the Kennedys perform live before their unfortunate breakup, but thanks to the folks at Rhino, punkers young and old can gaze with awe as one the most formidable American punk groups steps on stage. Filmed at the now defunct On Broadway in San Francisco on June 16, 1984, this film gives great insight into the live energy of lead singer Jello Biafra and his fellow band mates as they perform smashing renditions of Kennedy classics such as Religious Vomit, Hop with the Jet Set and Riot. ~ Ed Atkinson, All Movie Guide
