Director Mario Bava's heart wasn't in this very conventional murder mystery and it shows. Focusing on a group of bored and boring rich people trapped on an island, this film is remembered solely for the scene of glass balls bouncing down a staircase, finally resting around the bathtub where a bloody murder victim sits. There's so much better Bava out there such as KILL, BABY KILL, HERCULES IN THE HAUNTED WORLD, BLOOD AND LACE. Get cracking.

Bravo Bava

This movie delivers everything one expects from a Mario Bava giallo: excellent photography, a suspenseful plot, and a twist ending. As the guests are murdered one by one, the survivors stranded on the island decide to keep the bodies in the walk-in freezer (I guess to leave some evidence for the police?) next to a side of beef. It's an interesting visual motif as each new victim gets added. If you like the giallo genre of if you're a fan of Hitchcock, this movie will make you happy.
