LEXX goes brazenly where no other sci-fi series has ever gone before. State-of-the art visual effects combine with an off-center, darkly funny take on life in space in this internationally acclaimed series. On the lam from an evil empire, a group of space-age misfits roams the heavens in a bug the size of Manhattan. With the awesome power of the LEXX at their disposal, the hapless crew fends off annihilation and each other's base instincts. Episodes include: 2.1 Mantrid, 2.2 Terminal, 2.3 Lyekka and 2.4 Luvliner.
Special Features:
- Behind-the-scenes "making of" segment
- Exclusive interview with Michael McManus (Kai)
- "Rated LEXX" segment: His Divine Shadow

| Some cute dialog and a minimalist attitude about female costuming don't redeem this. The characters show less depth than you'd expect from an episode of Scooby-Doo, and the storylines aren't thin - they're anorexic. Good special effects, serious overacting - best skipped. |

If you haven't seen much Lexx, this is a good place to start. Zev dies and Xev (same character, different actress, bigger lips) is born, Kai goes through some personality changes, and Stanley gets to be a hero for a few seconds. They all screw everything up as usual, and show no remorse as lots of innocent people die. As long as it isn't the lead characters, it's ok when people die.
Don't expect anything more than what you saw on the Sci Fi channel. No racy scenes that had to be removed, no commentary tracks, and only a few short behind the scenes promo spots. It's still a good rental if you're in the mood for some goofy sci fi. |
