Basil Fawlty (John Cleese) is forbidden to gamble by his wife Sybil (Prunella Scales), but he secretly puts a little money on a horse race, and finds himself the winner of 75 pounds. At the same time, one of his guests, an elderly woman who can't hear very well, reports to Sybil and Basil that someone has stolen some money from her.
