Watch a few at a time with a beer by hneline1 July 13, 2003 - 10:21 PM PDT

If you're in the mood for a silly parody of the sword and sorcery genre where you don't have to use your mind for a bit, watch Sorcerer Hunters. It's stupid, it's mindless, the transformation sequences are repetitive, but sometimes you might be in the mood for laughing at the antics of a hormonally-charged loser, his infinitely patient and suave younger brother, a typical buff warrior type, and two dominatrix sisters. Unlike other stupid anime where it can be painful to watch, this series redeems itself by moments of hilarity and just existing with its theme of light S&M and sexual innuendo. It laughs at itself, and it bashes both genders equally.

In these episodes, we see glimpses of Big Momma's bigger plans but we still don't know what she needs the group to do. Generally, the story stays episodic -- the group encounters a lord who steals children, a feud between two lords named after breakfast pastry (almost everyone in this series seems to be named after food!), disappearing gamblers, and twin sorcerers who steal souls, among other adventures. If anything, I suggest that you don't watch all these episodes at once -- you may not survive the loss of brain cells. But watch a few at a time with a beer and you'll probably find the silliness rather entertaining.

A variety of anime I've seen that I recommend others see. They are listed alphabetically by series and then in the order recommended for watching them.
