In this Italian splatter film, director Lucio Fulci plays a horror filmmaker who goes to a psychiatrist because the types of films he makes are starting to disturb him, he suspects that his German producers are Nazis, and he believes he may be a killer himself. Much of the movie consists of clips from Fulci's previous films. ~ Brian Gusse, All Movie Guide

Fulci, one of the Italian greats of horror, displays an examination of a tortured director (played by himself) who can't seem to release the graphic images he's created on film. It's essentially a cheap compilation piece drifting back and forth from popular and not-so popular Fulci films. He looks silly acting upset over his damaged "creations" living a tortured soul. Essentially it's like a long wait to get on a ride at an amusement theme park. A completely uninspired quickie that would only spark an interest if you just want to jump to the icky, gooey stuff and avoid the sometimes confusing story-lines from his previous movies.
To see Fulci at his best experience films like THE BEYOND, GATES OF HELL, HOUSE BY THE CEMETERY to name just a few. Save yourself the boredom from this cheese ball "clip show". |
