As the general population becomes increasingly aware of the Aragami and the danger they represent, the Japanese government has come under pressure to take the one measure guaranteed to relegate the Aragami to the realm of legend once more. Now Momiji must be protected not only from the Aragami, but from the people who would sacrifice her to save themselves as well. The TAC moves underground to continue the fight, as the country surrenders to the natural forces released by the rebirth of Susano-o.

| A typical ending is just what I'm looking for

Sometime typical endings are exactly what you're looking for. They're expected, they take less brain cells to understand, and they're comforting. So these last episodes for Blue Seed follow The Formula -- hey, ya want a spoiler? I'll give you a **spoiler**! Momiji and Kusanagi save Japan, and they're both alive at the end! Wow, isn't that surprising? ;-)
And having a typical ending in Blue Seed is not a problem. The entire series has been a good example of a solid, upbeat, action adventure that happily covered all the bases: comedy, romance, horror, mystery, minor fan service, military and political intrigue, environmentalism, mythology, travel, magic, giant monsters, you name it and Blue Seed probably has it somewhere. I admit that I'm usually happier with more innovative series, but there's something about Blue Seed that takes me back to childhood yet entertains my jaded adult brain, which is more than I can say about some TV series that I actually did watch in childhood. Blue Seed has been fun for these past 26 episodes, and I will definitely recommend it to people who are interested in something breezy with action.
BTW, there are four more omake (comedy extras) on this DVD. My favorite is the spoof of the kaijuu (giant monster aka Godzilla) genre movie trailer using scenes from Blue Seed, complete with fuzzy cinemascope and monoaural sound. The most scandalously hilarious is the one featuring Momiji's grandmother going clubbing. My my, look at what her outfit reveals. :-) |
