Synopsis
Generations of American children sat in dark classrooms and absorbed wisdom in the form of 16mm educational and social guidance films. Through the flicker of dim projector bulbs and the warble of optical soundtracks a blueprint for better living in the Atomic Age was spelled out in no uncertain terms. Now just as you remember them, Fantoma presents these collections of sex education & drug prevention films. Learn all about the dangers of marijuana, the perils of heavy petting, the difference between boys and girls and the joys of menstruation. Films include: LSD: Insight or Insanity, It's Wonderful Being a Girl, Narcotics: Pit of Despair, The ABC's of Sex Ed. for Trainables, & Marijuana (with Sonny Bono).

Sex Education for Trainables is absolutley one of the weirder short films in history. I'm still not sure if they were serious. We were astounded. Get stoned as hell and watch this DVD.

Surprisingly, this is one of the weaker discs in the set. Sex and drugs are such loaded topics, yet most of these educational films give us just what we expect: a bland, safe and antiseptic view of the world. One of the standouts stars an apparently stoned Sonny Bono sitting on a desk, wearing (I am not making this up) a shiny gold pantsuit. His speech is incredibly slow and monotone. And the film has one of the best drug busts in history: 15 cops in riot gear break into a studio apartment just to take down eight pot-smoking teenagers. But the last film is the best, "Sex Education for Trainables." It took me a couple of minutes to figure out that "trainable" refers to the mentally handicapped. This '70s masterpiece is like nothing you've ever seen. I'm not even too sure what to say about it -- it defies description.
