Abandoning America's previous stance of non-interference since it was beyond its concern in the Pacific, President Truman eventually approved the launching of air strikes against North Korean forces and the protection of Formosa by the Seventh Fleet. One of the main catalysts for involvement was the Soviet boycott of the Security Council while the Nationalist Republic of China held the Chinese seat. In simplified terms, the U.S. involvement in the Korea was an expression of its anti-Communist orientation.
