The Cave back to product details

Don't go there
written by Turitz August 2, 2006 - 6:49 PM PDT
This was definitely NOT worth watching. It is a typical horror/monster movie not anywhere near such ones as Alien, Jaws, etc. It is almost entirely dark throughout the movie. OK, yes, they are in a cave and there isn't supposed to be much lighting to begin with, but IF YOU CAN'T SEE ANYTHING WHY IS IT A MOVIE? It is way too dark to see most details. And what about the plot? Plot, here plot, comeon plot, where are you? It is not even a good slasher film. There are many much better horror/slasher films than this one. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this film.

Some of us need to view a reasonably scary monster movie every few months to help keep our sanity amidst these nitwit times when a political figure can inflict twice the damage done by an Alien or Predator. As an end-of-year DVD gift, THE CAVE fills the bill, though it turned off most critics and, for whatever reason, audiences stayed away, too. Maybe it was the shadowy cave itself, coupled with the dark underwater photography, that made it occasionally difficult to know what was happening to whom. Nonetheless, the movie offers a number of good chills and some very creepy moments, as the writer and director follow the most important rule of this sort of film: not to let you see or learn too much too soon, thus keeping the suspense high. The cast is attractive and talented, and the writing and directing competent, so--overall--"The Cave" delivers.
