A convicted rapist, Ikuo, is released from prison and goes in pursuit of the woman he raped, Mieko. He is so obsessed with revenge that he sees her in every woman he meets. After carrying out vicious attacks on a prostitute and a young girl he finally comes face to face with her. But she is now with an old friend, Tomimori, who is acting as her pimp. Ikuo realizes he cannot live without her. Mieko tells him she wants to escape from Tomimori. To redeem himself in her eyes Ikuo takes her plea to the extreme, resulting in inextricable tragedy for them all. The Dream of Garuda is set in Japan's notorious "soaplands" - areas where young women offer bathing and massage to men for cash, as a way around the Japanese laws prohibiting prostitution. The story is inspired by folklore surrounding the mythical Hindu god "Garuda," a creature with a gigantic birdlike body who, though regarded as evil, is worshipped as the protector of Buddhism.

| This is a pretty good Japanese Pink Film. If you like the genre, you will probably want to see this movie. Unfortunately the DVD is awful. It looks like it was mastered from an 8th generation VHS copy. There is no attempt to clean up the sound or picture. In fact the movie is shown too dark to make out some scenes. I originally saw this on VHS and hoped to see a digitally remastered version here, but I think the VHS I saw years ago had a better picture. |

It's a short story(one hour)---and not much of one, for that matter. And it has pretty meager production values.
However, for you fellow devotees of the unclothed beauty in motion, our lady uses her whole body to lather and massage her man in a fashion you probably have not seen before. And a long and leisurely 3 times, to boot. |
