| One of the funniest shows to hit cable over the last 25 years, The behind-the-scenes look at a late-night comedy show, equal parts mercilessness and affection. My only regret about this disk is that it was a little chintzy only to include four 30-minute episodes (which include Carol Burnett and the tarantula, the Garden Weasel spot, David Spade as a back-stabbing guest, and Dana Carvey as a guest host who threatens to overshadow Larry). They're over too quickly, and then you'll wish you had Disks 2 and 3 right at hand instead of having to wait on the mail. ....... Update on Disk 2: While still very funny, these are not as good as the four episodes on Disc 1. The scripts and the comic timing are not quite as wicked. In these episodes, Artie fears he'll be replaced while he recovers from surgery, Hank tries to renegotiate his contract, Mimi Rogers flirts with Gary, and Gary imagines that he would like to become a more hands-on boss. |
