| At times, the movie was visually stunning, but the 2 main characters were too "cutesy" & annoying for me. Their physical attractiveness held my attention for a while, but their childish antics & squeaky voices simply became unbearable after just a few minutes. They played up the "girly-girl" thing way too much. I wouldn't recommend this movie. |

| well it's just kind of an artsy fun movie about two girls and their dabbling in decadence. BUT- there is this one scene with scissors that is AMAZING- gosh for a film made in 1966, this effect is sooo cool! |

let's say you go out to dinner with someone you're really hot for. you're a little late and you hurry to the table, you're all charm, with great clothes... but... your date is wearing a cowboy hat and is covered head to toe with a rainbow of ostrich feathers. "why?" you ask. "the world is screwed up and i wanted to do something about it," says your date.
welcome to daisies. please stir your decorum into a glass of milk and pour it over your head.
with the energy of keaton, the sass of firemen's ball, and the crazy personality of its two heroines, this is my current all-time favorite movie. it's not "tongue firmly in cheek" because the tongue is busy counting all the bumps and ridges in there, for science.
warning: it will set off your WTF?! alarm. but it's long enough to catch the rhythm and get into it and short enough that you can watch it again after a good night's sleep.
there are some good discussions of this movie on the website kinoeye.org, about female rebellion and playing games. "does it matter?" "it doesn't matter." |
