| One of the driest of comedies, this Ealing Studios "Brit" hit of more than a half-century ago is still a lot of fun--if you enjoy listening to well-written dialog and watching actors who know how to deliver the script. KIND HEARTS & CORONETS boasts Alec Guinness in his famous 8-roles, including one as a woman. It's expected that he's terrific, but so are Joan Greenwood (what a voice!) and Valerie Hobson as the lovely ladies, and even Dennis Price (not overly noted for his acting skills) in the lead. Criterion has given us once again an exemplary DVD transfer, so bask away in the rather refined pleasures to be found here. |
