Utter lack of continuity is showcased when Mike and the 'bots get a hold of Red Zone Cuba, a low-budget, catastrophic version of the Bay of Pigs story -- or something like that. Winning the lottery offers greater odds than finding anything historical -- or even sensical -- in this film, and the guys on the Satellite of Love try both. Speech: Platform Posture and Appearance precedes the feature, and after Frank evades the mob, the guys wrap with "The Happy, Upbeat Song" -- destined to become an MST3K classic. ~ Sarah Sloboda, All Movie Guide

For one thing, it stars the inestimable Coleman Francis, who is just like Steven Segal with thirty extra pounds and no martial arts moves. Wallpaper paste has more charisma than than Coleman - I'm serious. Second, it has the cheapest recreation yo'll ever see of a historical battle, the Bay of Pigs. (At least I think it's the Bay of Pigs - the script isn't clear on this point.) Guys are shown invading Cuba from a docked boat; hey saved the gas of actually taking out to water. And then there's the second half, which takes place in the Southwest and makes *no* sense whatsoever. Last but not least, it has the unforgetable screen appearance of Cherokee Jack. This one just has to be seen to be believed. |
