Kim Sang-jin directs this riotous send-up of Korea's rigidly hierarchical society. A quartet of nihilistic losers including an alienated athlete, a longhaired burnout, a spaced-out artist, and a muscle-bound meathead take to knocking over 24-hour gas stations. Their initial success eventually leads to trouble when they decide to hold up the same gas station again "just for fun." Unfortunately, the store manager had his wife take much of the day's earnings home with her just prior to the robbery. Stumped as what to do next, the four take the staff hostage and start to taunt the middle-aged manager (his underlings soon join in). They ridicule potential customers and order Chinese food until the film's delirious final showdown between the four protagonists, the cops, a local clan of gangsters, and irate delivery boys. ~ Jonathan Crow, All Movie Guide

| The audio and video quality of this DVD was absolutely terrible. Secondly, the only audio option is Chinese when the original film was in Korean. Terrible copy, don't waste your time with this. Wait for a better version. |

I heard that this show is a highly rated Korean comedy. It is about 4 guys who rob a gas station for money and some fun. They even disguise themselves as station attendants to trick the patrons.
Although I understand the satire of this show, I didn't laugh as I should. This should be a comedy, right? I believe that my high moral conscience has hindered me from fully enjoying the show. I felt somewhat disgusted as I see all the robbery, vandalism, beating, and bullying happening. What's more unbelievable is that the guys evidently "got away with it." The film didn't seem to show any repercussion of the crimes that the guys did. This doesn't suit well with me. If I were the gas station owner, I would be truly upset. This has become a show that "glorified" the 4 guys and their crimes. In summary, even though this show may appease some audience, it rather infuriated me with its unjustifiable act of violence. As said by another poster, there is no original Korean audio track. Instead, the dialogues are dubbed in either Cantonese or Mandarin. The video quality is just awful. I felt like I was watching an old VHS tape. The show was blurry and fuzzy. The colors are dull. Don't expect any high technical qualities in this DVD. |
