This was a fun action movie, but its biggest drawback was that it could have been much more. While Chris Klein and LL Cool J don't necessarily give oscar performances, the biggest fault was what the movie left out. While the original spent much more time (almost too much) building up the how the corporations ran things and developing Jonathan's character, this new version leaves out anything that might explain why any of the characters act as they do. What could have been a powerful story with a strong social statement ends up being a confusing (and disappointing) film with too much action and not enough (read no) explanatory sequences. (While the original 1975 version was a bit too slow for my taste, at least you know what drives the characters.)
