Synopsis
Meet the fighter pilots of the 801 Tactical Training Squadron, codenamed Airbats. With their sleek curves and lightning fast moves, they give new meaning to the term "the friendly skies" - and I'm not talking about their jets! The Airbats are the hottest, wildest team of female flyers you'll ever meet, and when they climb into the cockpit, the clear blue skies of Japan aren't big enough to contain all the aerial action these ladies get into! Whether it's ghostbusting the spirit of a dead kamikaze Zero pilot, facing off against a team of world famous American aeronautical acrobats, or winning a year's supply of noodles in a ramen-noodle-eating contest, you'd better believe the Airbats have the "right stuff" to get the job done!

Not the best but not the worst I've seen. by minordv8 January 31, 2003 - 10:46 AM PST

I rented this anime thinking it was a Kenichi Sonoda character design/story work but didnt see his name in the credits although the characters did bare some resemblance to those Gallant Force girls that I admire. Still the story and characterization was ripped straight out of U.S. wacky sitcom-dom. One guy, two girls and a conniving authority figure whose endless attempts to undermine the fun loving group are thwarted at the end of each episode. The animation is still quality work and the air-obatics are actually pretty good. Still I wasnt involved enough into the story to bother renting the second disk in the collection.

Favorite scenes:
The air-show scenes were well done. (I think I said that already but just in case you missed it.)

Movies w/ similar themes:
I think most of you know at least a dozen or so.
