| High concept with a vengeance, CLICK starts well enough and continues cleverly for a time--until Adam Sandler's inability to stop with the fart jokes and the uber-sentimentality chokes whatever life the movie offers. If you are going to age (and de-age) your actors, for god's sake, do this with some intelligence and consistency. If you are going to tell and show, then tell and show, then tell and show once more that life must be lived fully, not diced and sliced to obtain "just the good parts" (so true, so true!), do you really think we need you to tell and show this several more times, just to make sure we "got it"? Well, perhaps I am setting the bar too high: If any of you out there didn't "get it," then this is indeed your kind of movie. For the rest of us, once the going gets simply too sodden, I suggest three easy actions: Pick up your remote. Press "Stop." And then "Eject." |
