Tribulation 99 is a satirical pastiche of stock footage, propaganda films and newsreels, culled from archives all over Canada. The clips are arranged in a sort of continuity to "prove" that America has been invaded by hostile extraterrestrials, who are responsible for everything from the ozone layer to killer bees. Director Craig Baldwin gleefully and irresponsibly illustrates his thesis with scenes from bad Mexican and Japanese sci-fi films, along with random images of Ronald Reagan, John F. Kennedy and Salvador Allende. In the tradition of The National Enquirer, Baldwin predicts even more horrifying events in the future, using shots of the Northrup Flying Wing and scenes from the Granada Invasion to back up his predictions. Funny about half the time, Tribulation 99 is never less than diverting. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

| Ever wonder why we have global warming? Ever wonder why George W. Bush and his pinhead cronies continue to flirt with the apocalypse? Ever wonder how the United States came to be peopled by an alien life force? Fundamentalist theologian Craig Baldwin explains it all in this comprehensive analysis of the Book of Revelations, in which he exposes all the key players in the advent of the tribulation: Richard Nixon, John Foster Dulles, the Anaconda Copper Company, Howard Hughes, Fidel Castro, Lee Harvey Oswald, the Medellin Coffee Cartel, Klaus Barbie, James Bond, George H. W. Bush, the United Fruit Company, Manuel Noriega, Santerķa, Anastasio Somoza, Oliver North, and Ronald Reagan. The only question is, Are you ready for the truth about the endtimes? |
