Film Movement has decided to release a compilation of short films on their own in response to the popularity of their monthly campaing of releasing one feature-length film accompanied by a short. This collection features several innovative works by up-and-coming and established artists. Three of the films (INJA by Steven Pasvolsky and Joe Weatherstone, DAS RAD by Chris Stenner and Heidi Wittlinger, and MT. HEAD by Koji Yamamura) earned Academy Award Nominations, while a fourth (SANGAM by Prashant Bhargava) was screened at the Sundance Film Festival. Ranging from nine to thirty minutes in length, the shorts explore subjects of apartheid, time travel, the American dream, door-to-door salesmen, talking rocks, and one man's bizarre cherry-seed consumption experience. Additional films include THE FIRST THREE LIVES OF STUART HORNSLEY by Leigh Dana Jackson, and DEATHDEALER: A DOCUMENTARY by Andy Watts. The films featured in THE ART OF THE SHORT FILM represent talent from all over the world, including Japan, Germany, the U.S., and Australia.
