Not What I Expected (In a good way).

I rented this movie because my queue was running low, so I didn't expect much when I popped it in the player. And I have to say that I am not a huge fan of Ben Affleck, and the angry black man role Sam Jackson seems to play in most of his movies is wearing thin (I did like him a lot in Pulp Fiction). But this movie was not what I expected, which was an ever-escalating, back-and-forth, violence fest. The characters and the story both went a good deal deeper. And ultimately the movie had an ending I could feel good about.

To me, this movie is definitely worth a look. I have to call it a pleasant surprise.

Newsflash: Ben Affleck makes good movie

Samuel Jackson and Ben Affleck meet when their cars bump into each other on the highway. If this were a romantic comedy, they'd get mad at each other and fall in love. But it's not. So they just get mad. Thus begins a spiraling cycle of one-upmanship that's more entertaining than ten whole seasons of reality television. In a big change for Hollywood, this movie offers no obvious heroes or villains. Just real people. (And some real good performances.)
