It's hard to describe a movie as intense and perverse as Matador; wildly creepy, improbable, and erotic jump to mind as likely adjectives.
While the All Movie Guide blurb makes the movie sound dreary and grim, Almodovar make the whole thing a heady brew of 1980s excess. It's actually a lot of fun to watch, despite the macabre plot points. And the end (or should I say climax?) is certainly memorable.
