Synopsis
Jean Rollin, the French master of erotic horror, directed this gothic thriller. Eventually, the professor is confronted by Isabelle (Cyrille Iste), a woman of great supernatural powers who holds his fate in her hands. La Fiancee de Dracula also features Brigitte Lahaie, Sandrine Thoquet, and Magalie Aguado. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Of the ten or so Rollin films I've seen by djmarco June 5, 2011 - 10:39 PM PDT

this is at the bottom. It didn't have the usual pacing which Rollin is known for; there was too much dialogue and emphasis on a rather boring story line; and, there was no suspense. Even the nudity was no big deal, and why did he eliminate that cute nun who always had that yellow paddle ball ? She was hot, but all we got from her was a passionate kiss to another nun, and no skin.

I am a big fan of Rollin's dreamy horror films, so this new film made me happy. Rollin's dialogue and stories never make rational sense, but they capture and convey a reverie of nostalia, loss, and longing in a way that is very unique and personal. This movie is imitative of his earlier films like Lips of Blood and Fascination. Those are beter films, but it is wonderful to get a new Rollin fantasy.
