| The Prestige- what a terrific film. This is a film you can't help but love and be intrigued by. The Prestige has a little something for everyone. The film is a Suspenseful Thriller, A Drama, and even has Romance. We are taken to the end of the 19th Century in England. We meet two magicians Robert Angier (Hugh Jackman) and Alfred Borden (Christian Bale). The two are both friends as well as assistants in eachothers act. After a terrible gone wrong stunt, Robert's wife loses her life on stage in a tank filled with water. Blaming Alfred for the freak accident, Robert and Alred become enemies. We watch as they try to out do eachother's performances. They try to figure out eachother's tricks and secrets. The Prestige does not have a dull moment. A truly entertaining film, |

| Based on the cast and writer/director I expected a lot more from this movie, but this may be Christopher Nolan's first failure. The story starts out interesting enough and manages to hold attention for most of the flick, but the ending is truly ridiculous. It feels half-assed and made up on the spot just to throw curveballs at the audience. Maybe I was just disappointed that I had suspected a better ending than the one I got. |
