Image Entertainment presents this live performance by stand-up comedian and actor Jamie Foxx. After making a name for himself as a regular cast member of the Fox sketch comedy series In Living Color and later as an actor in such films as Any Given Sunday and Booty Call, Fox is one of the biggest entertainment. In this concert film, originally broadcast on HBO, Foxx offers up his signature brand of comedy to a sold out crowd at the Paramount Theater in Oakland, California. ~ Matthew Tobey, All Movie Guide

I only saw about fifteen minutes of this, so maybe things improved greatly, but --
MAN was this awful. I've seen Foxx in a couple of movies (and was truly stunned by his work in COLLATERAL), so when some friends excitedly popped this in, I was more than ready to give it a shot.
Holy shit. It's not even good enough that he opens with dick jokes -- the guy opens with his dick, period. He walks out onstage and prepares to do his routine, then seemingly notes that he dresses on the left, then begins gyrating and grabbing his joint through his pants, waving it around to the delight of, well, seemingly everybody but me.
And it goes downhill from there.
Fortunately, another friend wanted a break from the "party" and we headed outside; finally, a carload of us decided to just leave.
I'm down for stupid humor from time to time, but, man... this was stuff that could only aspire to stereotype minstrel show circa 2000 A.D. Truly awful, and a disgrace. |
