In this volume Onizuka breaks up a kidnapping and ruins his own test. Meanwhile, teacher-killer Urumi Kanzaki makes her first appearance and eventually opens up to Onizuka (literally) on a rooftop. Onizuka is blackmailed into buying a sushi feast with no cash, and the Holy Forest Academy is under siege from Urumi's dangerous pranks!

| Great character dramedy but not as gritty

These 5 episodes are fun with plenty of humor and drama, although there are a few places where Onizuka is in such an embarassing predicament that I had to fast forward, such as during the laundramat scene with the underwear and the sushi restaurant scene (watch it yourself to find out if YOU get embarassed too!). If I have any complaints about these episodes, it's that the surprising grittiness of earlier episodes seems to be fading. Maybe I'm getting jaded, but we know that Onizuka will find a happy solution in the end, so it's getting a little predictable.
I still highly recommend this series as a great character dramedy -- no mecha, no magic, just a teacher who doesn't quite fit into the system, the students who hang around with him, and the strange ways that Japanese culture works.
Also, a treat on this disk is an interview with GTO creator Tohru Fujisawa, who started writing the manga for Weekly Shonen Magazine in 1997. He talks about coming to Tokyo when he was 17 and why he chose to draw manga and discusses an idea to do a story about Onizuka visiting the U.S. The interview takes place rather informally at a sushi restaurant and that's fascinating in itself -- I love seeing what "real" locations look like in Japan. |

| I have gone throught the entire list of anime that GC has to offer and I have come up with these titles that sounded interesting. I particularly like anime with comedy and action |
