Synopsis
Bye Bye Brazil was a popular, funny, and occasionally profound Brazilian semidocumentary. A four-person travelling tent show, the "Caravana Rolidel," treks through the big cities, tiny villages, port towns and Amazonian jungles of the largest country in South America. The entertainers discover to their chagrin that even the humblest Brazilian citizen has been jaded by the advent of free entertainment, courtesy of television. The moral appears to be that the "purity" of Brasil (the Portuguese spelling) has become denationalized into the tawdriness and oversophistication of Brazil (the English spelling). And all because of the Boob Tube (the Couch Potato spelling). ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
