Takashi Miike spins this black comedy about the most dysfunctional family on the planet. The film opens with a father (Kenichi Endo) -- a gung-ho TV reporter -- not only paying to have sex with his estranged prostitute daughter in an anonymous hotel room but also videotaping the act as part of a documentary about "young people today." His son, who is brutalized on a daily basis by schoolyard bullies, beats, whips, and terrorizes his mother (Shungiku Uchida), who is covered with welts and bruises. Mom in turn finds solace in heroin and is not above hooking to pay for the habit. Their lives change for the better when a mysterious stranger (Kazushi Watanabe) cracks the father over the head with a rock and eventually shows them the way to familial happiness. why someone would accidentally be watching a miike film??? (weird? that comment doesnt belong anywhere near any of his films... weird is a word for the boring); also, audition is not miikes only other film--and not even nearly one of his best... AND, an entirely different motive...
anyway, this movie sucks... but... BUT BUT BUT: nowhere have i seen anyone willing to push boundaries, to casually honestly explore the forbidden, like miike... this guy does not flinch!... all i can say is AMAZING! |

I have no idea why someone made this video so strange(it's shot with a mini hand camera). Much of it makes very little sense.
I guess your suppose to think and interpret it. This is a sick movie where you'll see mindless violence, incest, breast lactation, and necrophilia.
My interpretation of the video was the family is immoral because the mother didn't nurture them.
If you're not interested in watching blatant, graphic and savage behavior then this video is not for you. |

Where Happiness of the Katakuris had claymation and dancing, Visitor Q has scat, necrophilia and lactation. In theme they are the same movie, but the first one may leave you scratching your head while the later may leave you holding your stomach. In many ways I prefer the latter; free to play in the worst of all possible tastes, Visitor Q explodes with more humor and energy than the often-dragging Katakuris.
That said, there's still a lot of setup in Q that comes off like excessive padding or pointless exploitation and its black hole humor is certainly not for everyone. If any of the bodily functions mentioned above make you queasy, then you may want to check out Katakuris instead. Miike probably won't care which you watch, both movies are a cinematic rock against the skull - a warning to cease your selfish ways and find the joy of family unity.
