Synopsis
The plan to conquer the city isn't going well this is one crack team of special agents that might be doing better if they actually were on crack. And now there's a rival secret organization who may actually have a competent agent on their side! There's lots of totally pointless violence and senseless mayhem ahead as opposing forces collide in the second sense-numbing volume of Excel Saga.

This second DVD is even better by hneline1 October 26, 2002 - 9:52 PM PDT

If you thought the first DVD was funny, this second DVD is even better. This time, Excel Saga parodies a mountain adventure, a horror flick, a ratings week show (read "pretty girls in bathing suits, no guys are allowed to be seen"), and a sports drama. My favorite was the sports drama -- you have never seen bowling so exciting as when the "Ball and Sticks" mystery men team roll into Excel and Hyatt's bowling lane, taking over the weekly midnight "Bowling Girls" TV broadcast and forcing the Excel Girls J-Pop singers into huge pin costumes to be the target of the bowling ball from hell. ;-p Read my review of Excel Saga Volume 1 for an overview of the series.

Actually, what's equally hilarious on this DVD are the Extras. Besides the original Japanese TV ads for the broadcast (this series was considered 1:45 AM material?) and ads for the Excel Girls CD, and production sketches, there is a feature to turn on "Cultural References". I highly recommend doing that -- if you do, during the episodes, a little Menchi with a dialog bubble appears every now and then to explain many Japanese in-jokes. Um, in that case, you may want to watch this in English so you have one less subtitle to read (dialog subtitles, signs subtitles, cultural subtitles&). The English dubbing is excellent.

Also, there are EASTER EGGS! If you see little folders or a skull in the DVD menu, use your navigation buttons to get there somehow and press Enter. My favorite was an ad for Spenchi... Menchi Spam. Gotta watch it.

I have gone throught the entire list of anime that GC has to offer and I have come up with these titles that sounded interesting. I particularly like anime with comedy and action

A variety of anime I've seen that I recommend others see. They are listed alphabetically by series and then in the order recommended for watching them.
