| It's hard to decide whether to be happy or not that John Woo's crossed over into Hollywood mainstream. "Windtalkers" is a perfect example of how his big budget American films are technically proficent and he has the clout to enlist a good American cast but so far, none have come near equaling the violent grandure of his Kong Kong material like "The Killer", "A Better Tomorrow" or "Hard Boiled". Acting-wise Cage is stiffer than normal though Slater is passable. Where's Chow Yun Fat when ya need him?! It works as a sub-par war movie with explosive action. Nothing ground breaking. |
