Death Proof back to product details

First half needs some heavy editing
written by ChefCFP May 25, 2008 - 8:59 AM PDT
I am actually a Tarentino fan but this movie is structured pretty weakly. It's a shame, because it has the bones of a great pizza party movie, but the first half is a snore. The second half is a lot of fun- Zoe Bell is an amazing stunt woman- and as usual QT finds the perfect song for each scene. I would have felt completely ripped off had I paid $12 to see this at the theatre but as a rental it's okay for a Sat night at home.

A Vulgar Talkfest

This movie reinforced my dislike for most of Quentin Tarantino movies. Most of it was nothing but a few long scenes of women talking [like one reviewer stated prior to me] about nothing that helped the story out. You go through what seems like endless minutes of idle conversation - much of it that could've been trimmed and been more effective. This was nothing but a showcase of profanity; barely a line was spoken without a curse or five within. Damn, I live in the hood and the language in here turned me off [that and the fact that Tarantino used it as an another excuse to employ his common subliminal racist remarks}. This was a vulgar chick flick at most, because Kurt Russell was barely in the movie, mainly because it spent most of its time on dialogue of the women. I HAVE to comment on the biggest continuity error in the movie [POSSIBLE SPOILER]: in the first seegment, Russell head-on rams the car three times. The first time, one chick flew out through the wind shield; the second time, the windshield was intact and shattered on the driver, the car's front was unscathed and the side windows were shattered om impact; the third time, the side windows were intact anew before they shattered - and lo and behold, the car was unscathed yet again. The second part had more action but you were so bored from like 30 minutes of straight dialogue that it did nothing for you. If you have to see it for gore and violence, skip to the last two minutes of the first part and then to the last ten minutes or so of the second.
