A camp Horror classic. It ranks behind one of my favorite Old School campy horror venues ["Empire of the Ants"] because it has GIANT INSECTS, RODENTS, WASPS, etc.. And I do mean campy, because the special effects range from miniatures [Volks Wagon and Camper under attack] to superimposures [attacking WASPS and CHICKEN] from the Old School genre of visuals [a lot that are obvious right off the bat], even though you wonder how they made the RATS jump and flip every time one of them got shot - and of course, it's a Bert I. Gordon production, the man who managed to get then big-name stars in his lo-buds [here - Gortner, Lupino, Meeker, Franklin]. The RATS get more play than any other creature, which is understandable because they're more menacing; they grow almost to the size of ponies. The CHICKENS and WORMS get less play, maybe because they didn't know what to do with giant fowl and slithers with a minimal amount of characters to attack. A lot of the dialogue was cheesy and production values were low, but it was the 70's and that's what makes it all fun. Check out the scene that inspired Patty Duke's birthing scene in "The Swarm" two years later, where Belinda Balaski goes into labor as the RATS attack. For campiness and Old School Giant Creatures Attacking fun, this is another rent.
