For those who haven't seen the first two entries in the "All Night Long" series, they basically both detail a geeky boy who seeks romance but is ultimately traumatized and turns on his bullies with gruesome results. The two films manage to include everything repulsive and shocking they can, which is quite a bit.
Part 3 has the same plot set-up, but details the boy's obsession with a young woman. This obsession includes collecting her garbage and secretly stalking her. Most of the film turns out to be a psychological study of him, which is odd but not particularly entertaining. By the time the film dips its toe into depravity, you don't really care anymore. Despite the description of this third entry, it's definitely not the "most extreme" of the set.
Yuji Kitagawa (as the boy) does an excellent job in the role, but there's only so much that can be done with the script he was given. Frankly, it's more sad than shocking when all is said and done. |
