Synopsis
An irreverent mash-up of gay male melodrama and "B" movie madness, Chris Diani's Creatures from the Pink Lagoon imagines what would happen if The Boys in the Band partied on the Night of the Living Dead. With its randy rest stops, monster mosquitoes, deranged dance numbers and campy cannibals, Creatures from the Pink Lagoon plays like an Ed Wood fever dream in a John Waters universe! Filled with quotable quips and crazy characters, this droll zombie movie threatens to become the first cult classic of the new millennium. Pink is the new black!

This is film when film is done by and large by stage actors. Each actor is content to deliver a one-note character for the sake of a tv-sketch-like parody, and most of the blocking is fairly 2-dimensional and stagy. Thanks to their talent as actors and a smart (mostly) script, CFTPL actually delivers a few funny lines and performances. This is film is not going to be cult status or anything, it's not outrageous enough or sick (slick?)enough, and the film making itself lacks good pacing, angles and creativity on the technical side etc. etc. Although they do have some fun with gore and zombie effects. Imagine a small off-broadway theater troupe with some real talent doing their first movie, on video. There ya go.
