A young cameraman has just broken the national news story of the year, only to mysteriously pass out and awaken in a deserted field with no memory of the last 24 hours or how he got there. Fighting for his career and his sanity, the mystery only grows more complex as he is forced to reexamine his own life before understanding the mysterious events taking place before his eyes. | An ambitious first feature from a film school drop out, supposedly 5 years in the making and shown at the Montreal Film Festival. Although there are some good performances and the story and themes themselves hold lots of promise, this film is seriously flawed from the start. Bad editing, at times painful pacing and way too many moments where suspension of disbelief is impossible. You know those moments where characters do things that make no sense, but it furthers the plot along, and that's the only reason they do it. Aggravating and obvious. Also, a lot of minor actors are bad. Having all that said though I still enjoyed a god deal of this movie because the story was pretty good, even without an explanation of how it all happened, they cop out on that. But just when the tension in the story gets good, here comes a lengthy slow motion sequence that takes all the wind out. If you're desperate to fill up your queue, you could do worse, but come with low expectations and you might like it. |
