Yes, folks, THE Andrea Bianchi, the one who, in a year later, gave us Burial Ground. As bad as that one is, it has it's charm. Which is way more than I can say for it's predecessor. I tell you, that Lucretzia was one horny broad! Immediately after possession, she makes Bimba do crazy things like masturbating with her stuffed animals, french- kissing and humping her reflection (I am not making this up), and flashing the guests at a cocktail party. When a concerned Andrea consults the family doctor, he assures him that this is a normal part of puberty. (Gee, I don't remember flashing my parents friends at that age. I'm pretty sure that my friends didn't flash theirs either.) Possession is signified by the accompaniment of wind, a Theremin score, and Darth Vader style breathing. And there are way too many sex scenes. I know that may sound like a horrible thing to say, but this is a case where less should be more. It slows the story down. or maybe that is the story, I 'm not sure. |

First of all, the relatively high rating is in relation to other films of this particular genre (erotic horror), not to films as a whole. So, with that in mind...
Rent this film if you appreciate the idea of erotic possession, as there are few films which deal with that subject in such a direct way. I would not define this as a sex film but there is a brief explicit oral sex scene about half way through and numerous other scenes containing nudity and sexuality, in addition to the fact that it deals with erotic taboos like incest and "nunsploitation".
"Satan's Baby Doll", the remake (not too sure of the reason for making another version a year later with a mostly different cast) is also available for rental, but the version I saw was edited so much that it was more like watching a porn film with all of the sex edited out. The narrative was chopped to bits, which I suppose implies that it was more about the sex scenes. The acting was also very poor. While the lead actress was arguably more attractive than the one in Malabimba, she was so bad of an actress it was almost funny.
This with out a doubt is a niche film which would only be enjoyed by fans of erotic horror, and to those people I'd highly recommend it. If you are looking instead for a strictly (frightening) horror experience, look elsewhere. There really is nothing scary about this film. |
