Light Yagami is an ace student with great prospects - and he's bored out of his mind. But all that changes when he finds the Death Note, a notebook dropped by a rogue Shinigami death god. Any human whose name is written in the notebook dies, and now Light has vowed to use the power of the Death Note to rid the world of evil. But when criminals begin dropping dead, the authorities send the legendary detective L to track down the killer. With L hot on his heels, will Light lose sight of his noble goal... or his life?

This is an amazing example of what anime is capable of even today. In a sea of mass-produced nonsense, Death Note is truely different, fresh and captivating. If you like smart, complex stories give this a try even if you're new to anime.
If you have a thrist for logic and strangeness, one episode will hook you into this great series. This anime almost worships reasoning and genius.
A personal note; I'm a huge fan of english dubs of anime, but I wasn't too fond of some of the casting choices in this series. I love the actors just not for these roles. I suggest watching the original Japanese with english subtitles first. |
