Independent film to me was always about the love of the project and the money wasn't an issue if the story was there. Never has than been more apparent in this film. Filmed in video format that reminds me somewhat of "the last broadcast". I could almost see this project being shown on some local access cable station late at night but it still impressed me alot. The sound in the first film annoyed me to no end as some of the dialog wasn't picked up well at all but the intent to just make a good film was there. One thing the video age has done is be able to have filmakers create this stuff on a limited budget so more voices can get their stuff out there. Is this the greatest vampire story out there no, but the 2nd movie shows loads of improvement over the first and the sheer fact that something like this was done and done as well as it has makes it a must see for fans of the low/no budget style of cinema this movie represents. It is a delight for fans of vampire films as well. I have sat through many a bad vampire film and have to say even with all this films problems and story shifts it is a far superior story then I have seen in a vampire film in a long time and is actually downright creepy at times. The 2nd movie is a prequel for the first and the acting though done over the top is effective. giving it a campy but also somewhat dark feel to it that makes you want to watch it over again or like me check out the filmography to see what else this group has done. If you like no budget filmaking and want to be pleasantly surprized by an interesting vampire story I suggest you rent this film and turn the volume all the way up through the first film to catch the dialog and back to normal for the 2nd and just admire that a film like this can be made. This is the future of true indendent cinema. a cheaper medium and alot more voices makes for ineresting chances at seeing some really cool movies. I would have rated this even higher if it wasn't for the bad sound quality of the 1st film. still worth a look though.
