In this caper comedy, Jean Gabin plays Lambert, an escaped convict in search of some robbery money he hid a long time ago. He and a companion, disguised as priests, take a plane into Rome. On the way their plane is hijacked, and, in order to get to their money, they must stop the hijacking. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide

One of the worst quality DVD's i've seen (other than public domain titles.). Hard to say about the film itself since only about 1/6 of the dialogue is translated. One phrase of a conversation is subtitled, the rest is missing. Pretty decent little movie but being a comedy staring an 80 year old screen legend the humor is bound to be in the dialogue. Too bad. The blurb is misleading as well. The old crook and his partner pose as priests so they can retrieve loot buried beside a church in its garden. The flight is interrupted by young hijackers not hitchhikers.
Anyway it's worth checking out just for the random typos and spanish subtitles that pop into the burned in english translation. |
