Based on the books by Georges Simenon, this miniseries concerns "the thinking man's detective" Chief Inspector Maigret (Michael Gambon) of the Paris police. This videotape collection includes six episodes originally aired in 1992. In the full-length pilot, "The Patience of Maigret," disabled gangster Manuel Palmari is accused of jewel robbery. In "Maigret and the Burglar's Wife," Sad Freddie and Guillaume Serre are possible suspects in a murder case. In "Maigret Goes to School," small-town village schoolteacher Joseph Gastin is accused of murder. In "Maigret and the Mad Woman," Mme. Antioine is murdered after seeking help from the Paris police.
